There is nothing more romantic than Rome by night. When night falls, the city is cloaked in a special charm, and between lights and shadows it seems to be transported into a dreamlike, magical dimension. But even more romantic than Rome by night is a dinner in front of all its beauty, travelling aboard a historic vehicle accompanied by a pleasant background of live music. This is what TramJazz proposes, one of the Capital’s most original musical and gastronomic experiences. The carriage of the Stanga 1947, the first tram to travel the streets of the city, has been converted into a travelling restaurant and concert hall dedicated to jazz music, and moves sinuously through the streets of the city while, inside, you dine quietly by candlelight.
An unforgettable tête a tête that will take you to some of the most iconic places in Rome. Departure is at 9:00 p.m. in Piazza di Porta Maggiore and from there, amidst fine food and excellent wine, the journey begins, taking you through the San Lorenzo district, overlook Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, admire the majesty of the Colosseum, and then return to the terminus in Piazza di Porta Maggiore at midnight, like a modern-day fairytale pumpkin.
There are also stops along the way, to take photos or just to enjoy the beauty of the monuments at night. TramJazz offers a different band for each of its evenings, in a programme that ranges from 1930s blues to the wildest swing and that over the years has hosted some of the most important jazz musicians on the Italian and international scene. The price is fixed – €75 per person for a shared table, €90 for a table of two.
