The Leggenda di Avalon is a unique restaurant in Rome, a typical medieval inn transplanted into the 21st century. The project originated with the Impagliazzo family, owners of the historic ‘Vini e Oli’ wine cellar in the San Giovanni area. In 1997, Sabrina and Maurizio, fascinated by the Middle Ages, entrusted a bizarre architect with the design of the restaurant. Thus, was born a very special castle-restaurant whose furnishings consist of swords, ropes, armour and typically medieval instruments of torture. Even the staff is perfectly dressed in medieval style.
The menu includes dishes fit for a King, for hunters, witches, Lancelot or Merlin, following the typical fourteenth-century presentation, and recipes from the same period. Drinks are served in horns and goblets. It is also possible to book the Round Table: if booked for a party, for example, the guest of honour will receive a complimentary knight’s suit, while the others, whether ladies or knights, can rent it at the time of booking.
There are also organised guided medieval dinners. Friday is dedicated to the Last Sword, the medieval tournament with latex swords. The winner not only receives the Knight’s Toast, i.e. a free litre of beer, but also has to return for the tournament final. Up for grabs for the Best Knight of Avalon is a travel smart box. There are also live costumed performances. The Leggenda di Avalon awaits you every day from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. at 21 Via Terni.
