A small pallet table, cushions on the ground, strings of lights overhead and the rows of vines disappearing into the sunset light on the horizon. There is no romantic happy hour quite like the one offered by Tenuta Santi Apostoli, a family-run agritourism nestled in the lush Castelli Romani countryside. The winery has devised a new happy hour formula, a bucolic moment that comes to life amidst those very vineyards from which the winery’s precious wine is made.
From Friday to Sunday, starting at 6 p.m., Tenuta Santi Apostoli opens the doors of its realm and welcomes guests (with prior booking through the form on the website), and leads them among the rows of vines to make them sit among blankets and pillows, ready to enjoy a genuine proposal centred entirely on the winery’s products. For € 25 per person, you are entitled to a plate consisting of a selection of cured meats and cheeses, a sampling of vegetables from the estate’s organic garden and a basket of bread and water. There is also the option of adding a tasting of one of the wines produced by the estate: Malvasia del Lazio and Vermentino (15€ the bottle), Cesanese rosso (18€ the bottle) and various natural wines (20€ the bottle). There is also the option of an entirely vegetarian or vegan plate, and the option of a mini plate for children, which costs 15 € with a tasting of supplì and pasta instead of vegetables.
The romantic atmosphere of the vineyard and the peace of the countryside are bound to captivate those who try Tenuta Santi Apostoli‘s happy hour, and perhaps convince them to come back and try the estate’s cuisine as well. The estate, in fact, also has an excellent restaurant, where traditional cuisine is revisited but without distorting its identity, rather giving it new life with passion and creativity.
