Staying in a tree house is no longer just a fairytale, but a real trend, and now it can also be experienced in Lazio. All you have to do is travel a few kilometres from the city and reach the Tuscia viterbese, specifically the locality of La Piantata near the village of Arlena di Castro. Along Provincial Road 113, immersed in the countryside, you will find La Piantata B&B, a farm that has come up with an exclusive, out-of-the-ordinary offer: sleeping in the trees. Two of the accommodations conceived by the structure are real houses built between the branches of two centuries-old trees, surrounded only by nature, but with all the services offered by the bed and breakfast.
Suspended 7 to 8 metres above the ground and designed with all the most modern comforts, the Pianta tree houses are truly an intimate and charming nest. The Suite Bleue is entirely built of wood and is surrounded by 12 hectares of lavender-grown hillsides: a dream retreat, hidden in the thick foliage of a centuries-old oak tree. It is a good 44 metres wide – which is a lot for a tree house – it is secluded, far from noise and equipped with many comforts. The Black Cabin, on the other hand, is an ultra-modern 87-square-metre eco-loft, suspended 7 metres above the ground in the shade of the crown of a 200-year-old maritime pine. It is the latest addition to La Piantata, an entirely high-tech and completely ecological abode for a five-star holiday with minimal environmental impact. The atmosphere is relaxing and elegant thanks to the furniture with black steel plates, bucchero walls, LED lights, home theatre, Corian and crystal shower, and the view is truly breathtaking: the terrace overlooks the sea, and overlooks a centuries-old olive grove with over 1,800 trees.
Both accommodations include breakfast in the room and the possibility to use the hotel’s swimming pool. La Piantata also offers Papiro and Edera, two brand new suites on a pile-dwelling in contact with the most unspoilt nature, but without sacrificing glamour.
